The Office of Data and Innovation is hiring a Learning Technology Systems Administrator to join the CalAcademy Team. In this role, you will play a key role in designing and implementing digital learning technology systems, including the learning management system (LMS), and supporting learner experience across ODI and other agency divisions.
Location: ODI staff reside throughout California. The employee’s workstation is located in Sacramento, Oakland, Los Angeles, and/or San Diego, CA. Travel to the Sacramento headquarters may be required as needed. This position provides telework opportunities in accordance with agency telework policies.
Annual salary: $103,500 – $142,860 based on experience and qualifications

What you’ll do
- Administer and support Learning Management Systems (LMS) or enterprise learning platforms.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and resolving system or user support requests.
- Analyze operational issues and recommend practical technology solutions.
- Coordinate technology implementation or operational support for virtual or hybrid learning programs.
- Develop operational procedures, documentation, workflows, or standard operating practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to implement technology solutions.
- Support e-learning content deployment using enterprise authoring or publishing tools.
Training and Development (T&D) assignments may be considered for this position for current California civil service employees. T&D assignments cannot exceed 24 months. However, successful T&D candidates may transition to a permanent appointment, if eligible at the end of the T&D assignment.

Desirable qualifications
- Knowledge of Principles and practices of Learning Management System (LMS) administration, digital learning technology operations, e-learning publishing tools, and multimedia delivery platforms.
- Learning technology platforms, including virtual meeting and collaboration systems (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- System administration concepts, including user account management, permissions, configuration management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Business process improvement analysis, workflow development, and operational documentation.
- Accessibility standards and best practices for digital learning environments (e.g., WCAG, Section 508).
- Reporting tools, performance metrics, and data analysis techniques used to evaluate technology operations and learning programs.
- Project coordination principles, technology implementation practices, customer support, and stakeholder engagement.
- Monitor system performance and use operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate multiple technology initiatives and priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Interpret business requirements and translate them into effective technology solutions.
- Develop and implement standardized operational processes and documentation.
- Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Build productive working relationships with stakeholders, facilitators, vendors, and subject matter experts.
- Adapt to changing technologies, priorities, and organizational needs.
- Promote accessibility, consistency, and continuous improvement across learning technology services.
- Exercise sound judgment, initiative, and independent decision-making in the administration of learning technology systems.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrate time management and prioritization of competing assignments.
